The NAHRA Northeast Region is one of the most diverse regions in the world. It includes the major metropolises of the east coast and southern Canada, sprawling farmland, massive wooded ridges of the Appalachians, coastal bays and marshes, the Great Lakes, and the Great Woods of the North County. Despite it populations of people, the Northeast Regions supports a wide variety both upland game birds and waterfowl that embody the image of the NAHRA Retriever, as a well rounded conservation tool. Popular upland birds include Ruffed grouse, woodcock, and doves. Popular waterfowl include Canada Geese, mallards, Black ducks, wood ducks, and divers in some spots.

The region has a deep heritage of keeping hunting retrievers that originated from subsistence and market hunter era. Many of the first retrievers developed in North American were associated with the grand old duck clubs of the Northeast. Retrievers of all breeds are wildly popular in the northeast as both gun Dogs and family dogs.  This combination of a deep hunting heritage and countless retriever owners make the northeast a hot bed of retriever sports, including NAHRA field test.

The Northeast Region is composed of 10 clubs and has members in 13 U.S. States and Canadian Provinces.  The regional typically conducts approximately 75 NAHRA Licensed Hunting Retriever Field Test per year, scattered over 12 to 14 weekends, mostly in the spring and summer.
